Bouquet Making And Gifting Is An Art

By Thomas Mendoza

The term 'bouquet' stands for 'an arrangement of flowers' in the French language. It involves arrangement of flower clusters in varied ways, after which they can then be wrapped up and presented as gift items for specific occasions.

Bouquet making is recognized as an art that requires enormous patience and dedication to acquire and practise. It is called floristry, and it deals with an elegant floral assortment with the help of leaves, flowers, herbs and even stems.

The first step in bouquet preparation is that of choosing every single flower which can go into making the bouquet and then cutting them to the right length. The withered leaves are removed and a floral design is made, followed by the tying up of flowers into an elegant wrap.

Each florist has his own exclusive design, which depends on the occasions the bouquets are meant for. Other factors which determine the design of a bouquet are the availability of flowers in that particular season and the expected market price of the bouquet.

It is also very important to understand that different cultures ascribe different meanings to a flower as the same flowers can symbolize different ideas in different communities. Hence, a bouquet should be chosen sensibly if you wish to present it to someone who hails from another culture.

However, some flowers have the same meaning regardless of the culture. For instance, you can always gift red roses to your beloved, no matter which culture she belongs to as red roses have come to symbolize love across cultures all over the world.

Bouquets have a very limited life span. The flowers dry up soon, and so it is advisable to place them in vases filled with water, so that they can last a little longer than their usual span.

It is quite convenient to purchase bouquets, and all you have to do is step into a local florist shop and tell about your preferences and the event, and the florist generally takes care of the rest. Instead of going to a florist for buying flowers, you can also decide to place an order with an online florist. - 33393
