How To Carry Out The Inspection Of Your Rubber Roof ?

By Scott Rodgers

The durability and the reliability of a rubber roof cannot be denied by the homeowners who own one. The meager cost of maintenance and repair involved in the rubber roofs makes them a popular choice among the other kinds of roof.

Though the rubber roofs are less likely to undergo any damage due to external conditions, they can showcase leaks and holes during the course of time. A sound and well structured inspection work of the rubber roof can however save you from several associated problems resulting due to these leaks.

Generally, the tasks associated with the roofs are considered very complicating by the homeowners. But this fact lies far from reality as a bit of a logic and the required tools/supplies can easily save the day for you.

Shoot off the campaign by cleaning the roof area such that a clear surface is rendered to mend the roof. Use a broom to sweep off any debris, grease or other foreign materials from the surface of the rubber roof. Next, grab a probe tool to examine all the seams of the roof such that all seams appear flawless. Also look-in for the spreads of the roof where the replacement of the adhesive solution is required. Inspect the vents, chimneys and the skylight to discover any flaw. Mark down the faulty area with the help of a bright chalk piece or a tape.

Clean the concerned area well with water and rub the surface to make it a bit rough. Wait for about 15-20 minutes to let the area dry. Next, locate the seams lying closest to the affected rubber spread and break the seams apart.

Expose the seam area and apply adhesive to the top and bottom of the seams. Push it down to let the new setup bind well. In addition, run over the surface with a silicone roller such that the seams are tightly attached to each other.

Amass all the supplies and tools from the roof and place them in the tool kit. Leave the repaired area to let it reproduce it's normal functioning.

After a duration of about 24 hours, inspect the rubber surface again with the probe tool and detect if there are still any leaks in the roof. - 33393
