How To Enhance The Life Of Flowers In A Bouquet

By John Calimlim

All of us share a liking for flowers, and bouquets are favourite gift items for special occasions like birthdays and weddings. However, the major issue with a flower bunch is that once the flowers and leaves dry up, they not only lose their charm but in fact start looking ugly. It might seem to be the perfect idea to purchase artificial flowers to prevent them from going bad, but fresh flowers have something unique that fake ones can never match.

Although bouquets are bound to wither away sooner or later, some steps can be taken to keep their freshness for some time. Here are a few tips by which you can keep the vibrancy of your bouquet for a few days.

Firstly, you must ask from the florist how long the flowers in the bouquet are expected to live, as it is an accepted fact that some flowers remain in bloom for a greater time, like roses and lilies. To make sure that bouquets keep longer, you need to get the florist to choose flowers that have a longer life.

If you are the recipient of a bouquet, then you can cut the stems and keep the bunch in a vase with water. The freshness span of bouquets is somewhat prolonged by doing this. If one or two flowers or leaves start drying up, you can remove them so that the rest of the bouquet continues to look fresh.

You should not keep the vase at a dark place where it does not get enough air and natural light. Flowers dry up soon when they do not get enough air and sunlight, and if you provide them these natural components, you can be sure that your bouquet will endure for a much longer time. However, the flowers have to be safe from direct heat, as that will drain all the moisture from them and make them wither. - 33393
