By Scott Rodgers

If you're located in a hilly region or a high altitude then the snowfall may come down as a problem for you. The cover of snow on your roof saturates the surface of the roof and leads to water leaks or molds on your walls and ceilings.

If you are located in a hilly region or a place which is prone to constant snowfall during winters then you need to pay an extra care to the inspection of your roof.

Prior to the commencement of the project, amass the required tools and supplies that would be of immense help throughout the project. Ensure the safety aspect by inculcating a first-aid kit in the scheme of things. Your first aid-kit would comprise of the regular fist-aid components such as rolls of adhesive bandages, eye-rinse solution, anti-biotic medicine, a pair of scissors etc. In addition, arrange a rope that would protect you from a possible fall down from the roof.

Walk down to a local hardware store to purchase a snow rake that has a long handle and can be extended as well. Though there are different types of snow rakes one can choose from, but the extended snow rake would serve the required purpose for you in the most effective manner. It's easy handling and multitasking ability makes it a clear winner among all the available rake types.

It cleans off the snow cover from your roof in such a way that the heaps or the mounds of snow don't damage the roof setup. It is provided with another edge that breaks apart such snow mounds and renders a safe mode of operation.

Though it is much easier to wipe off snow from the angled roofs but it involves a certain degree of uncertainty as well. This is because the heaps or the mounds of snow that build up owing to the operation of rake, can easily lead to a damage to the roof setup or the affiliated components. In comparison to the angled roofs, the flat roofs are much safer to work with as the snow mounds are easily broken and raked down.

In order to climb up to the roof, use an extension ladder and make sure that you tie yourself to a rope. This would prevent yourself from potential accidents that could result in a damage to your limbs or arms.

If you observe a saturated roof then it may not be safe to stand on the roof. Invite any suggestion from an expert on that account and thereafter, plan your next move. - 33393
