Water pressure is a thing by which you can determine whether your faucet or shower head is working fine or not. If the water pressure is less than before then it shows that there could be sediment deposit in your faucet or shower head. Problem in water line can also result in low water pressure.

Check drain of each sink, shower and tub for the speed of drainage. Slow drainage normally indicates a clog in the drain. When water is draining, if bubbles appear in it then it is a sign of some problem. To check all the faucets in your home, turn on all of them to see if there is any water coming out of the handles and valves.

Flushing in toilet consumes a lot of water so check properly that your flush system is working fine or not and also check it against any leakage. Open the tank and check all the parts inside it.

Loose, hollow or cracked tiles around the sink/shower point towards a leakage. Also check if the caulking of tub, shower and sink is proper or not because it can also cause leakage of water.

How to check the water heater? First of all check the flame of your heater. To clean the heater, remove all the sedimentation by draining it. It should be blue in color. If it has touch of yellow light then you need to clean the jet. Open the chamber of heater and check it, if you find some chips of rust there then it means it has rusted.

By running this checklist on an annual or bi-annual basis, you can check your home for plumbing problems or potential plumbing problems. If you will address these problems on a regular basis then you can prevent them from becoming worse. It will save money for you on the long run.
